The most elite group in all of amateur baseball just got two new members.
The prodigious 500 Foot Home Run Club is something that grew from within the POWER SHOWCASE, after a 16-year old named Bryce Harper first launched his historic blast back in 2009. Since then, very few have been able to eclipse 500 feet at the event, making the elite ones who have a fraternity unto their own.
This year, at the 17th annual POWER SHOWCASE at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, not only did the fraternity welcome two more to its ranks, but one of them raised the bar to an all-time high. Texas’ Easton Autrey hit a 544-foot bomb that is the longest ever hit in showcase history.
“It is incredible,” Autrey said. “Bryce Harper’s in the 500 Club. Blaze Jordan is in the 500 Club. All of these guys that hit 500 feet, I honestly wasn’t expecting that I would be able to. I just did. I hit the ball pretty good, and it went a long way.”
Autrey set the bar high in the Underclassmen Final, with eight home runs, which also included two homers with a wood bat. The Junior ('26) from Corsicana rode a wave of momentum into the championship showdown, which he finished off with two more 500-foot blasts of 501 and 513 feet, respectively.
“It was incredible, and I was shocked by it,” Autrey said. “But, at the end of the day, I should hit the ball 500 feet. I’m big, we get really big bats, and I’m just trying to do what I can to be great.”
For Gabriel Coltman, he would have been shocked if he hadn’t made the 500 Club. Heading into the event, the Oregon native had openly admitted that he had his sights set on eclipsing 500 feet. He envisioned winning the showcase, as well, but it was a toss-up, which accomplishment meant more to him.
In the end, he achieved them both on the exact same swing.
Locked in a tie in the Featured Group Championship that was the grand finale of the event at Globe Life Field, Coltman connected on a towering home run that traveled 518 feet. When the ball finally landed from orbit, he had become the new World Champion and also the newest member of the esteemed 500 Foot HR Club.
“It feels great. I set my mind on hitting 500 feet and competing, and I feel like I’ve done both of those things,” Coltman said. “I was just amped up, and it happened, and I just got fortunate to do them both at once. You couldn’t write it any better.”
Coltman surpassed three-time defending World Champion Hogan Nelson to claim the Featured crown. He then completed the full task by slugging five more home runs to move ahead of Underclassman Group champion Cooper Holmes to finish with 12 total home runs in the finals and earn the coveted title of World Champion.
Now, both these sluggers earn their ranks amongst the most accomplished in POWER SHOWCASE history.
